"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them" (Ephesians 2:10 NKJV)
If you listen to any newscast or read any newspaper, it is evident that kindness is in short supply on planet Earth. The type of kindness that Christ demonstrated involves friendliness, generosity, and gentleness in both speech and conduct. It is the practical aspect of Christianity, and therefore, it should involve all aspects of living. We are to be kind not only to people we like, but also to people whom we find objectionable; and we are to be kind without expecting anything in return. Imagine what the world would be like if more people, even Christians, were truly kind. How might newspapers read then? (CQ Bible Study)
Points to ponder during the week:
- "Kindness is a thermometer by which love is measured." (George Brown)
- We should not be selective about whom we should show kindness to. (CQ Bible Study)
- Our lives should be Christ-centered. Our characters must speak of Him who called us. (CQ Bible Study)
Millions of people are homeless after the earthquake this week and 350,000 of those are our brothers and sisters in the Adventist Church in Haiti. A special "Haiti Emergency Response Fund" has been set up by ADRA and it has a large team on the scene which is already helping people of all faiths and races, but needs our support to get sufficient supplies. All donations designated for "Haiti Emergency Response" will go 100% to that purpose. ADRA already has a large team in Haiti and is helping people today. They need much, much more in terms of tents, tarps, food, medical supplies, cleaning supplies, water purification tablets, hand tools, etc. The entire nation was destroyed, even the Haitian White House was knocked down.
